Cutting and Splitting Firewood in the Mud and Cold 🥶

Share This Post With A Friend

Sometimes cutting and splitting firewood in the mud and cold is just part of the farm life.

Right now with all the snow and rain, and now the above freezing temperatures, needless to say it’s very muddy. Even the main gravel roads are soft and spongy…like there is no bottom spongy.

I’ve found the best way, right now anyway, is to drag the trees out and bring them up to our (kind of gravel) driveway and cut them up for firewood there instead of out in the timber and fields.

Doing it any other way right now makes for to many trips and deep ruts everywhere. So I either drag the trees/logs out, or use the pallet forks and carry the trees/logs out…depending on size and weight.

Cutting and Splitting Firewood

My choice is to split wood by hand, using a splitting mall (shown in pictures), instead of with automated wood splitter. Several reasons, but the main reason is not being lazy and doing my best to stay fit and healthy.

The world we all live in is almost to automated in many ways, and because of this, many people tend to take the easy way out and not get the daily exercise needed. This results in unhealthy and overweight lives.

Have you ever used a single wheeled wheelbarrow loaded with firewood in the mud, snow, and especially ice? I do this on a daily basis during the winter months. See the picture below of the wheelbarrow load of firewood I just split and wheeled inside the shop. (Just another great way to stay in shape)!

Here is something I use on a daily basis that give me energy and helps keep me healthy. >> Alive – Men’s 50+ Gummie Multivitamins (super food). We all need a little boost at times, and this works!!
