Now that we have our cabin Addition wrapped with house wrap…it’s a wrap. Lol

It’s A Wrap Steps:

  • Squared up our spot for Addition and staked it all out.
  • Removed dirt and leveled ground.
  • Built frame using treated 2×8’s.
  • Measured corner to corner diagonally numerous times throughout the process to make sure we was totally square.
  • 3′ deep holes were bored (by hand) in all corners and throughout the middle and added large heavy hedge post and bolted frame to post. This was done to support the heavy load and also secure to ground.
  • Added gravel inside frame leveled off with top of floor frame.
  • Added 3/4″ plywood for Addition floor.
  • Framed up walls using free shed we had.
  • Added roof Rafters.
  • Found cheap windows, located placement for windows and framed for each window.
  • Used 1/2 OSB plywood and installed to outer sidewalls.
  • Wrapped the entire outside with house wrap and used staples to secure the house wrap to sidewalls (OSB plywood).

Time to add smart siding now that the wrap is complete. Next will be cutting out the window frames and adding the windows. After this step comes the weather sealing of all joints, around windows, etc.

Landscaping

Once we are finished with the “Cabin In The Woods” project, we will add some landscaping. First off will be more pruning and tree trimming. Removing a few small (junk trees) will help give this cabin a nice clean look.

Appearance is important, so decorative rock will be added around the cabin near the end of this project. The rock also helps keep this cabin low maintenance.

Last step will be lightly tilling the ground around the cabin and adding grass seed. New grass for the makings of a nice looking yard.

More to come soon as we continue to move forward with this cabin in the woods Addition.
