Stock piling firewood for off grid emergency’s is always a smart choice in my opinion.
What if something was to happen and we lost all power for several days, a week, a month or longer? How would you heat your house and stay warm if it was winter time?
How about power for running your appliances. Do you have a backup generator, or solar power? What if the worst possible thing was to happen and we lost all power supply’s, natural has, propane and gasoline? Probably won’t happen, but it is always a possibility! If we was to ever lose access to gasoline, wouldn’t it be nice to have a backup battery bank and solar system to keep on running like nothing ever happened? Solar runs off of the sun and no electricity or gasoline is needed.
A solar power grid tie system vs a solar power battery bank system
With a solar power grid tie you are tied into the power company and if they go down then you will as well, unless you have battery backup. A totally off grid solar power system will have a fairly large battery bank system (as large as you want) to store the suns energy produced and requires no tie to the electric/power company at all. To us, this second option with the totally off grid battery backup system is the only way to go. This way you NEVER have to worry about relying on anyone for anything! Just make sure you spend a little extra money and get a large enough battery bank and get good quality battery’s for long life.
What about food, drinking water and all of the above items mentioned? Do you have a way to stay alive? Do you have lots of backup food, firewood for heat, and a for sure way to power everything that needs electrical power?
Deep freeze and refrigerators need power to operate. Do you even have a backup wood stove or fireplace for heat? Do you have garden items that you have canned and plenty of meat in your deep freeze?
Don’t forget, you can also cook meals with Firewood as well. We have a smoker than operate on charcoal and wood, or either one by themselves. So this smoker can cook anything we want just on Firewood alone. We could also cook meals using our shop wood stove, just the same as you could with a fireplace.
These are all important things to think about if we was to have some type of collapse in this world we live in. Stock piling firewood is one thing that is very important to us. In this blog post that is my main topic. In later blog post we can cover the other things mentioned above.
Importance Of Stock Piling Firewood For Off Grid Emergency’s
Let’s say that we was to lose all connections to gasoline. How would a person run their chain saw to cut firewood? Well, you wouldn’t! However, if you had been consistently Stock piling firewood, you would have plenty of firewood to last you for awhile. This would give you time to devise a backup plan if you didn’t already have one. Even if it wasn’t summer time when these things happened, understand that winter time is always right around the corner.
How Can You Cut Firewood Without A Chainsaw?
Have you ever hear of a hand Saw? There are 1 man handsaws and 2 man…or person handsaws. They work really nice if good and sharp. There is also a tool called an axe. An axe will also work nicely if kept sharp. None of these saws require gasoline to operate. They do require effort on your part though.
Below here is what is refereed to as a single man, a bow saw and a double man handsaw. The bottom picture in this group below is an axe for helping you to Stock piling firewood for off grid emergency’s. The axe can be very useful for cutting wood as well as the hand saws. Women use these too! I will show you proof of this in later post. π
Stock piling firewood for off grid emergency’s to us is one less thing we have to worry about. We know that we will always have many large piles of nice dry Firewood to keep us warm and we can use this firewood to cook with and stay alive.
What About Your Own Food Supply?
Stock piling firewood for off grid emergency’s is just as important as having a backup power supply. Just think about it; if you have endless wood supply and a totally off grid solar battery bank power supply, then you have most of the battle won if something unforeseen was to ever happen. Of course you have to have food supply, and as mentioned we will cover that in upcoming blog post and videos soon. We have chickens, so we have eggs and chicken meat. What about having a few calves to raise for butchering? That is beef (meat for the freezer)…or for canning. What about a garden with an abundance of veggies, etc for canning and eating?
In blog post coming soon we will cover water, food and electricity.
As always, feel free to leave your comments below. What are your plans if something was to happen and put us all off Grid? We would love to hear your plans.
Always do your best,
-Mike Pilcher
