Below are pictures of these cheap chicken feeders that I have made using mostly free materials. Check them out and see the pictures for part numbers as well near the bottom of this blog post.

Cheap Chicken FeedersCheap Chicken FeedersAs you can see in these pictures the PVC pipe and the green sewer pipe is used. This left me with just having to buy the elbows that I have below with parts numbers for you. You will also see the PVC primer and glue that I am using for these projects.

I used a hand saw with a medium wood blade in it for cutting off these PVC and Sewer pipes to the lengths I wanted. I also used the file and sandpaper mentioned and shown in the video above for smoothing the rough edges.

The picture below is the PVC glue that I am using for these projects and other PVC projects. This is the best and cheapest that I have found. I have never had anything leak that I have used this primer and glue on. This stuff bonds tight and secure.

Make sure that when you put the glued pieces together that you have them where you want them. They are very hard to move within seconds of putting these glued pieces together.

Materials Used For Building Cheap Chicken Feeders

  • 4″ 90 degree elbows
  • Used PVC pipe and Sewer pipe
  • 4″ 45 degree elbows
  • 4″ End caps
  • Oatey PVC Primer and Glue
  • Wood and Metal combo file
  • 220 grit Sandpaper
  • Hand wood saw with medium blade for cutting PVC and Sewer pipe

How to build Cheap Chicken Feeders by using mostly used materials. Remember what I mentioned in the video above about getting free PVC pipe and sewer pipes? Go around to building sites and ask if you can get there throw away scraps and materials. Most of them will say yes.

Always wear safety glasses when doing projects like these. You only have one set of eyes, so take care of them!
