Have you ever thought about filling trenches with wheelbarrow and Shovel?
Maybe you are one that thinks you have to have machinery to do this type of work. Or maybe you just don’t think it is possible to fill trenches any other way.

Notice in the pictures below how one wheelbarrow is loaded with rocks and the other with dirt and rock? I was hand placing the rock in the top portion of the trench before finishing with dirt and gravel…
The heavy rocks acts as a good solid filler that helps make the trench more solid.
Although filling trenches with wheelbarrow and Shovel can be a great deal of work, it doesn’t cost anything more than your time and some sweat. Alright, maybe a lot of sweat would be the best way to put it. Lol
In my case, with a tractor that isn’t running at the present time, the wheelbarrow and Shovel method is the next best thing. As I mention in the video above, I personally like the workout I get from this type of work, but not everyone would.

- Leather gloves
- Safety glasses
- Caterpillar Work boots
