Pasture Mowing (Scag Tiger Cat 61″)…

It’s Pasture Mowing time here at Pin Oaks Farm. Of course a good amount of this pasture mowing has turned into our regular lawn (our very large yard).

There is nothing more appealing to me as that of a large yard. I guess you might say our yard is about 4-5 acres right now. It’s like a state park out here…lol. Seriously, it really is.

Pasture Mowing At Pin Oaks Farm

As you can see in the picture below (behind my Scag Tiger Cat 61″) our yard is large, and this is a small section of it. This zero turn mower is a beast. You can basically go as fast as you want…or should I say, as fast as you can stay on the seat πŸ’Ί. Even though this Scag Tiger Cat 61″ mower has a very nice adjustable suspension seat, there are places that will not allow you to run as fast as it will go. You can start with this seat at your body weight using the adjustable dial and then tweak it from there to get the ride you want.

Pasture Mowing - Scag Tiger Cat 61"Behind where I am standing while taking this picture is our outdoor spot for the summer time in our fifth wheel camper (our RV). In another week or so it will be time to move our fifth wheel (our home) our of the shop and into the beautiful outdoors for the summer…

So try and imagine looking out our large back window of the fifth wheel out across this large yard where my Scag mower is sitting. Also try and imagine that in June of last year you wouldn’t have been able to even see this mower sitting here with all of the brush and tall grass. It was that bad when we took over this place.

Pasture Mowing Vs Yard (Lawn) Mowing

So Pasture Mowing, or at least some of it has turned into yard (lawn) mowing. We also have close to 1/4 mile of driveway to get back here from the main gravel road and we mow both sides of that as well with the zero turn mower. We want to keep it looking very nice and groomed. I have noticed a huge difference in the quality of the grass sense we have been mowing so much with the Scag zero turn mower. The areas that are mowed over and over with the Scag zero turn mower gets greener and nicer looking each time it is mowed.

What About Using A Tractor and Larger Mower?

Yes, we do have a tractor and large brush cutter/mower too, but with the tractor being out of commission right now, it’s all zero turn mowing, or at least what we want to mow that is. It is so much faster using the tractor vs the zero turn, but until I figure out the tractor problem, it is what it is. There are also places that the tractor just doesn’t fit and work well either, so for those places the zero turn is a must!

Planting season is upon us and I have to get something going with our tractor so that I can plow, disc and plant the sweet 🌽 corn and pumpkins πŸŽƒ. Being without a tractor right now is very inconvenient and I don’t want to allow our pasture mowing to get out of hand. There is no way we can mow all of this entire acreage with our zero turn, nor will we, but we also will not allow it to go back to what it was when we moved here either. It was an absolute jungle!

So when I speak of Pasture Mowing, I usually mean with the tractor and large brush cutter/mower, but in the last few days of mowing it has been with my Scag Tiger Cat 61″zero turn mower. Due to the size of the large brush cutter/mower and the tractor I can mow over twice as much per swath as what we can with the Scag zero turn. I’m sure you get the point… πŸ˜‚ lol.

The picture below I just had to throw in here…

What Is Rhonda Looking At?

Pasture MowingShe is on the Pond dock looking at something. The sun β˜€οΈ must have been in her eyes too.

If you will cast your eyes over across the pond from where Rhonda is standing (in the picture above), you can see the bowl shaped area where dirt has been moved. This is the area that we are building our new home. Can you imagine the view of the pond that we will have everyday? We can. πŸ™‚

Dirt Work For Our Basement

Once we get back to the dirt work for the basement we will do a video and pan it around so that you will be able to see everything including the pond from where the house will be. This will give you a much larger picture and a better idea of the view we will have when finished.

Below are a few more areas of pasture mowing with the zero turn mower that we like keeping groomed up nicely around the pond and cabin area.

Pasture MowingPasture MowingI will add more pictures of the driveway and pin oaks down both sides tomorrow sometime once I am finished mowing it all. It got dark on me tonight before I was able to finish up and get more pics.

Always do your best,

P.S. Below are the pictures of the rest of my mowing that I promised you in last nights blog post. Today I was able to knock out the rest of what we mow with the Scag zero turn mower. All total it takes about 4 hours of mowing with the zero turn by itself. That doesn’t include the entire property by no means, just what we like to keep looking nice out front, down the driveway and what we call our yard. You can click on any of these pictures to make them open up larger for better viewing. Just don’t forget to hit the “Back Button” to return back to this same page…
