Cabin Rafters

Now that the cabin rafters are up and the headers are in we can keep moving along with this addition.

In previous post I shared our cabin Addition. This addition is being added to the 12’x12′ cabin that was already on our property when we purchased it last year.

Now that we’ve added the new 12’x20′ Addition and have the cabin rafters up, we can now add the roof sheeting (plywood), roofing paper (tar paper) and then lastly would be shingles.

Before the shingles we will first add plywood to the outer walls and then wrap it with house wrap. There is still a few more floor anchors to add to make sure the cabin is securely fastened to the frame work and to the existing cabin.

See Pictures Below of the Cabin Rafters

Finish Work and Landscaping

Once we have the windows framed, the plywood and the house wrap on the sides, we can shingle the roof and then do the finish work. The finish work being, adding the smart siding, trim work, and then seal all the joints and windows from the weather.

Next will come landscaping and rock around the cabin. The rock will be from the cabin ground frame outward approximately 3′. Lastly will be some tilling of the dirt, then adding grass seed.

Cabin Rafters

Remember the free Shed we pulled apart in 10′ sections and hauled in on the trailer? Yep, the same free Shed that it took our loader tractor to load and unload. This is the same Shed that is now our cabin Addition. These cabin Rafters are the same ones that came from the free shed we hauled in to Pin Oaks Farm.

The cabin Rafters had to be angle cut on each end to match the existing cabin roof lines. We also had to make birds mouth cuts in each rafter. This all took a great deal of time, but seeing it now makes it all worth while.

More pictures and videos to soon follow on this and other projects.
